Welcome to Third Grade!
I’m looking forward to beginning my 9th year teaching third grade at Legend Springs and working with some amazing students. I’m originally from Kansas, but have called Arizona home since 2007. I have always wanted to be a teacher, so this is my dream job. I come from a family of educators, with one of my grandmothers having taught in a one-room schoolhouse in the 1920's.
About me:
•30th year in education
•Taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade math (Kansas, Oklahoma, and Ohio)
•Gifted Cluster teacher in the Paradise Valley, Dysart, and Deer Valley school districts
•AVID instructional coach
•Mircrosoft Innovative Educator
•♥ LOVES to read ♥
Problem-solving and critical thinking are important components of my classroom, which I have implemented through , and the . I'm a member of the Be Kind People Project's Education Council and the Arizona Association for the Gifted and Talented. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family exploring all the wonderful outdoor experiences Arizona has to offer. My husband and I just celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary in June. In addition, you will always find me with a book. One of my favorite hobbies is collecting antique books, so I'm always on the hunt for a treasure. I'm passionate about helping students become lifelong readers too. When I'm not book hunting, you will find me playing with Ashby, my Yorkie, and Winston, my cat.
It is my goal to provide a learning environment that encourages all students to think critically, develop problem-solving skills, and to feel confident in their learning. I truly believe that "education is a journey, not a destination."
