B.A. Fine Arts Masters in Education

Mrs. Turner

Hello students, parents and guardians!

Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Darlene Pope-Turner, or Mrs. Turner, as my students refer to me. This is my eighth year at Stetson Hills Elementary, and I am both delighted and excited about teaching your child social studies this year, as I love our great nation and its rich history.   My education includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the New York Institute of Technology and a Masters of Education in Elementary Education from Arizona State University.

I am originally from Long Island, New York.  Although I grew up boating, fishing and going to the beach, I fell in love with the Sonoran Desert when I came to Arizona on vacation with my family when I was 12.  I relocated to our beautiful state in 1989 as a young adult and absolutely love the lifestyle.   My husband and I have been married for 29 years and have a 24-year-old daughter who has attended ¼â½ÐÊÓƵapp since kindergarten (she attended Stetson Hills in Kindergarten and first grade).  Our daughter graduated from Boulder Creek High School in 2018 and graduated from  Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and works as an RN today. Where did the time go?  We reside in New River with our three horses, three dogs, fourteen chickens and a rooster.

In our spare time, my daughter and I love to hit the beautiful trails on our horses Dusty Diamond and Jetty.  As a family we love nature, animals, horseback riding, hiking and camping.

My goal as a teacher is to inspire and motivate my students so they will become lifelong learners and independent thinkers.  I strive to engage their eager minds by incorporating a variety of teaching techniques, enjoyable activities and making the lessons “game like” and fun.  I wish to inspire your child to have an appreciation for geography, history and civics and hope they will truly appreciate the sacrifices early Americans made that gave us the freedom we cherish today.

I look forward to meeting you all with great anticipation!
