Mrs. Moya

Mrs. Moya is in her 30th year of teaching in the Deer Valley Unified School District. 
 
I graduated with my Bachelor's of Arts in Secondary Education with a minor in English in 1994 from Arizona State University. I started by career at Deer Valley Middle School teaching 7th grade English language arts and 2 years later, transferred to Mountain Ridge High School. In 1998, I earned my Master's in Secondary Education at Arizona State University and have completed coursework toward a second master's degree in Educational Leadership. At MRHS, I have taught English Language Arts 1-2, 1-2 H, 3-4, 3-4 H and Junior AP. I also teach Education Professions/Adv Ed Professions/EDU 221 and am the Mountain Ridge Advisor for FCCLA, a CTSO for high school students interested in the educational field. 
 
 In 2001, I was honored to be selected as a Deer Valley Education Foundation Teacher of the Year. In 2017, I was selected as the New Teacher Leader of the Year for the State of Arizona Educators Rising. In 2024, I earned the AzCTE Community Service Teacher of the Year for my work with Educators Rising and FCCLA over the years. Additionally, I was named Rio Salado Adjunct Faculty of the Year.

 

I remarried on March 28, 2015 to my husband, Mike. I have 2 children from my first marriage; Nathan who is a 2017 MRHS graduate and Hailey who is a 2021 MRHS graduate.
