Welcome! My name is Dr. JoAnn Schwarting and I am the very proud Principal of Inspiration Mountain School. After serving four years in the United States Navy, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University, a Master of Arts in Educational Administration and Supervision from Northern Arizona University, and a Doctorate in Education Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University. I taught 7th grade ELA for seven years and have worked in administration for eleven years.
My philosophy as a leader is to build strong partnerships with our community and parents in order to support the development of the whole child. I am excited about the foundation we laid during our first year. For example, we supported the highly successful creation of our Parent Teacher Student Organization. We were also able to successfully develop our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) focus by offering MakerSpace activities, drama club, band, choir, and project based learning campus wide. Additionally, with the help of our students, we developed strong behavior expectations that were supported by our social emotional learning approach using All Things E.Q. We are excited to continue the work to enhance and enrich our students experiences while on campus.
When I am not actively involved in supporting the Deer Valley community, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my husband, my four sons, three daughters, one grandchild, and six grand dogs.
